Did I see it or did I invent it? On subliminal messages

Subliminal messages are all around us: advertising, packaging, POS, stores product placements, etc. Nothing has been left to our own decision making. As we know social media and digital advertising has enhanced these tactics to the extreme but it was already a common marketing process before the internet era. Supermarkets would strategically place products for kids (new decision makers) and women (new main buyer) since the 60ies

So let's reverse the trend and ask ourselves as designers and artists how much do we create and how much do we subconsciously digest and regurgitate in our every day creations? An interesting test done few years back which I highly recommend to watch!
